Hyundai Coupe brakes

Car: Hyundai Coupe
Variant: 2.0SE Auto
Model Year: 2002
Categories: Steering, Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres
When I tried to stop the car yesterday it was very slow in stoppig and I nearly ran into the back of the car in front. I put the handbrake on and the engine revved for a couple of seconds. Its OK now and has only happened once before a few months ago. Any ideas please?

Hi
I would have to say that this sounds like a problem with your brake servo.
The servo relys on the engine vacum and has a pipe connected to it.
I would reccomend taking it to a garage to check it out as it sounds like a intermittent fault and you can guarantee that if unchecked it will get worse and the next time it happens you may not be so lucky. Before next driving the car have a check of the pipe to ensure that it is connected properly and that there is no sign of damage to it.

sounds like you need to blead your brakes not a hard job and while your at it check for leaks also brake pads as its an auto you use your brakes more than a manual

Sounds like the hose that connects the brake servo to the engine is collapsing thus reducing the efficiency of the servo. when you stop the car and apply the handbrake the servo isn't stressing the hose any more the answer is replace the servo hose and clips with new parts and see what effect this has. Hope its of help
