Ford Puma grinding noise when depressing the clutch mostly when gearing down

Sounds like it may be a noisy clutch release bearing .

Thanx , any idea on how much it costs to have it fixed ?

IF it is that you have to remove gearbox to access the bearing . In that case you would be better to replace complete clutch assembly / kit which will include a new bearing .You would be advised to phone a few garages for quote as prices will vary considerably depending if dealer , clutch centre or independant garage .Here is an example ,

" The clutch kit + bearing should cost about £150. (advance motor components)
Labour cost about £80 - £100.

What's that crunching sound when I pull away from cold? Don't worry, nothing's wrong! With every cold start, at approx 13mph, a Puma with ABS will do a self test.

This ABS test makes a crunch/grind type noise regardless of which gear you are in at approximately 13mph.
