Ford Mondeo temperature gauge

Car: Ford Mondeo
Variant: 1.8 LX
Model Year: 2001
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights
My mondeo's temp gauge moves to the middle of the gauge as I drive around town, but when I go onto the motorway and drive faster than 60 mph the temp gauge falls back to the cold side , Anybody know why

When you are driving on motorway you are getting the air / wind forced into radiator cooling it down.

a cooling system thats running spot on should ideally indicate normal all the time IMHO, you could have a thermostat issue or radiator probs, but if its ok leave it

Changing the thermostat may well sort this, unlike previous post I would suggest you do swap the stat out as your fuel consumption will suffer with a cold engine.

I have been advised there could be 3 problems
Thermostat, Water Pump and Temperature Sender unit failures.I haven't a clue what these are but was quoted £180 for the 3 parts
