Ford Mondeo new ignition cylinder

Car: Ford Mondeo
Variant: mk3 2.0
Model Year: 2001
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
i am about to repalce the ignition cylinder, will i have to reprogramme the new key to my fob, or will the fob still be recognised. i was told i could just put the new cylinder in, and attach my current fob and the car will know no difference, is that correct. what part of the car recognises the code, it seems to me that the pats is the part which holds the code and the key itself does not.

thanks

Should be o.k if just barrel , normally turn the key to position 2 , push in the locking pins and pull the barrel out

have the barrel made to match the existing key then you wont have a problem any good locksmith or dealer will build the lock with tumblers to match your key

the problem was the key was so badly worn, the dealer couild not read it, so i got some new locks and fitted them. i just have the ignition barrel to do.

you could have taken a door lock for them to dismantle and make the key to the tumbler numbers,if you change the ignition key you will need to get the keys coded to match the pats system
