Ford Mondeo intermittet power failure

Car: Ford Mondeo
Variant: 2.0 LX Petrol
Model Year: 2002
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
i have a ford mondeo 02 plate and for the last few weeks i am having a intermittent power loss problem. It will be fine for a couple of miles then the rev counter just goes up and time in a rhythmatic way and with foot flat to the floor there is no power, when car slows down it then stalls. Turn the engine over and is ok for a few more miles. It is very jerky but ticks over sweet as a nut with no problem engine management light has also just flicked on, help !!!!

A diagnostic scan should show the reason why the engine management light has been activated .Many possible causes of your faults .

I had a simular problem with my mondeo, it turned out to be low fuel pressure, and would basicly run out of fuel, turn it off and the fuel pressure would build back up, and run for a few more miles. To fix this I replaced the fuel pump, which fixed the problem.
