Ford Mondeo missfire

hi, i have 1.8 petrol 2001 duratec engine, my brother drove through a puddle he said car near died out, but then drove ok about 10mile down the road the eml came on.

and the car then started to missfire, i got it plugged in and its reading cylinder3 missfire, i changed the plugs but still no joy i checked for water in air filter but all seems dry...

could be a one of a few things,if it did take water into the cylinder because of the puddle it may have bent a valve or worse a conrod so get the compression checked.also could be real simple like the coilpack gone down or a plug lead failing or water around the spark plug causing the spark to track out.if the air filter was dry then its probably not too serious.good luck

chances are its a faulty coilpack which is common on these engines,also check the leads,if it drove ok for 10 miles down the road its unlikely that you have bent a valve or rod,this would`ve been noticeable straight away
