Hi Guys,
I'm going to try and add as much detail as i can so please bare with me on this, thanks..
Traveling home from work the other day and i noticed a problem with the drive in my car, on acceleration there was a crunching noise coming from the engine bay I initialy thought it was an engine mount i pulled over to take a look, checked all the mounts no problem there so i thought if i could get it home i could have a proper look for the problem so i started off again, within a mile it felt like a drive shaft had popped out i called for recovery and got the car home got it on axle stands both drive shafts were in place. I removed them both to look for signs of damage to the splines couldn't find any replaced them started the engine whilst still on the axle stands no problem changes gear fine no problems drop the car on the floor and same thing happens crunching and car will not drive forwards or backwards any advice or ideas greatly appreciated.......many thanks in advance..

sounds like clutch problem to me,take it the clutch is engaging and disengaging ok?could it be the clutch is dragging?if the diff has dropped you would be able to see it by removing the driveshafts,is the gearbox oil level ok,any signs of metal filings or fragments in gearbox oil?if the diff is knakered you will need to overhaul the gearbox or get one from scrappy, check the speedo drive is not broken and make sure the pinch bolt has not come out of gear selector housing and dropped down inside box
