Ford Mondeo engine runs fine then cuts out as if its run out of fuel even though there is half a tank

Car: Ford Mondeo
Variant: Zetec 2.0 TDDI
Model Year: 2001
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Hi Guys,
Bought my mondeo about a month ago and had a new clutch and dmf fitted, ran no problem for about 3 days, then last night coming down the dual carriageway it decided to cough a few times and then cut out completely. When I pulled it over it would not start at all. Got it towed home, and this morning tried to start it and it started up straight away and revved up no problem. I daren't drive it because it may cut out again.
Any ideas?

check fuel filter as may be high pressure pump causing problem.check for air leaks in all air pipes.if no good need to check high pressure fuel using scan tool.drive car till problem occurs then look at pressure.if low then new pump reqd

I have checked around the fual filter and i noticed a split in one of the hoses leading to the pump, could this possibly be the problem? where could i get replacement hoses from?
