Ford Mondeo grinding noise from rear of the car

Car: Ford Mondeo
Variant: 1.8 16v duratec he
Model Year: 2007
Categories: Steering, Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres
Hi jamie r here I was wondering if you could shine some light on a problem that just started. While driving I can hear a grinding noise coming from the rear of the car. Now I replaced the wheel hub on the passenger side last year and I know that if it is a wheel bearing there is a distintive noise that happens. And I've checked all four wheels and there is no sign of wear. I took it to a mechanic and he said it could be a bad tyre??? What I was thinking it could be would be a seized caliper as I know the earlier mondeos used to have that problem i e 01 to 04.Any help would be aprecciated thankyou... jamie r

Get the rear disks carefully inspected.
I had one in a few years back where a granite chip had got between the disk and the disk cover plate,
Sounded like a cat was stuck in there screaming!!

If calliper was seized the brake would usually overheat or that side would be inoperative .Could be s**t in calliper and needing stripped down , pads freed off , cleaned out and lubricated .Could also be wheel bearing , jack up and spin to see if there is any roughness .
