Ford Mondeo white smoke front exhaust when pressing accelerator peddle.

Car: Ford Mondeo
Variant: 2L TDCI
Model Year: 2006
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Hello.

Mondeo just passed MOT - spent £800 in total, with most of the money going on getting 4 second hand injectors fitted. I had black smoke, and the car was driving in limp mode prior to the MOT. This was suggested as a course of action that would remedy the situation.

The car has been Sorned for nearly three months, so it has travelled maybe a mile during this time. I picked the car up from the garage yesterday, with plums of white smoke coming from the exhaust when I touched the accelerator peddle.

Garage chap said it was because the car had been sitting idle for so long, and that the smoke should clear after a few decent journeys.

Could this be correct, or should I be worried?

Thank you.

it could be due to condensation in the exhaust but I would like to think it would have cleared after being warmed up for the smoke test.Best thing would be to take car for a short drive just to see if it does clear.

Have had cars laid up a LOT longer than that and never had condensation in exhaust causing that .Keep an eye on the coolant level , if not dropping and not clearing , would suggest you may have a bigger problem .

White Smoke

Normally means that the fuel injected into the cylinder is not burning correctly. The smoke will burn your eyes.
•Engine/pump timing out
•Fuel starvation to the pump causing the pumps timing not to operate correctly
•Low engine compression
•Water/petrol in the fuel

so condensation in exhausts doesn't exist then?

Come on !! Of course it does but not to that extent with just lying unused for 3 months and after been driven to Mot station and ran on testing also .Biggest condensation by far is produced by engine running , cant remember the figures for amount produced per gallon of fuel .
