Ford Mondeo track rod end

Car: Ford Mondeo
Variant: 2.0 TDDI
Model Year: 2001
I am having trouble undoing the lock nut on the trackrod end that I am attempting to replace. I'm using spanners and it is currently soaking in wd40.
does any one have any ideas as to how to separate the nut and the part.

Is it the nut on the ball joint end or the nut at the steering rack end ?

It is the rod side that is causing the problem.

The ball end is free and clear. I undid this thinking I could unscrew the other way but the whole rod turns doesn't it!! so it will be popped back in to undo, at the moment it is hanging down so that the lube gets in.

I think that it might be the original and that the nut has joined itself to the unit. She has done 112k.

So still stuck

A bit of heat from a gas torch works wonders normally .

Right it's done. Just incase anybody else has the same problem, here is what happened.

Tried with spanners and hammers, mole grips and stilsons. No good. Borrowed next door neighbour's blowtorch----30 seconds of heat on the end of the TRE, spanner on the nut, one tap, and around it went, loose.
The job was finished 20 mins later.

Hope it helps.

Thank you Whittingehame, I think your response came in as the light went on in my head, so I missed it. I've just reviewed the original post and found yours. So Thanks.
