Ford Mondeo gear's

Car: Ford Mondeo
Variant: 2.0 Zetec
Model Year: 2004
Categories: Gearbox & Clutch
Hi again, my problem - when I try and engage first gear from stationary it's very difficult to engage, when the car is moving all the gear changes are nice and smooth. So what I am having to do at present is putting it into first gear before I come to a complete stop, also when the car is off there seem's to be no problem engaging first gear. The clutch has a very good biting point and like I say the gear changes are very smooth when the car is moving. Any advice or info would be most greatful??

Thank you in advance

Is the clutch hydraulic or cable operated???.

Hi, I have had a look and I can't see a cable going from the pedal.
I know...not very helpful - sorry.

Then it could be a hydraulic system. If so then you need to bleed the system... Does it get any easier if you pump the pedal a few times...???.

Hi Witty, yes it does. How would I bleed the system?

Thanks again

You need to follow the pipes from the master cylinder to the slave cylinder and there you will find a bleed nipple. Bleeding the clutch is basically the same as bleeding the brakes, but with the clutch pedal and not the brake pedal. Not forgetting to keep the fluid level topped up as necessary...

Hope this helps, and explained enough for you...
