Ford Mondeo cruise control trips out

Car: Ford Mondeo
Variant: 1.6 zetec
Model Year: 2008
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights
Intermittent problem. With cruise control on, it behaves itself when increasing speed, but when decreasing speed it trips out as if the control has been cancelled, it does not go into standby, & will not resume.

Other than checking switches at clutch / brake pedal , ther is not a lot you can do . If not that you will need to get it scanned .

Thanks, for info I'm not touching any pedals when it happens, only the steering wheel control. As I said it's intermittent, it sometimes comes good when I re-activate it - even on the same journey.

Even though you are not touching pedals you could have a quick check of the wiring / connections at switches and the clearance between switches and pedal in case it is very minimal and any road movement or whatever when decreasing speed is triggering switch .Just a thought .

Thanks again. As mentioned, it only happens when the decrease switch is pressed, it doesn't appear to be connected to any road bumps, but I'll check the pedal switches & wiring anyway.

yes start at pedal switch sensors if manual then start at clutch pedal if auto then it may be the brake pedal position sensor

I have a similar problem with the cruise control on my 59 plate mondeo titanium estate (manual), ford dealer have said it is not a cruise control issue but there is a clutch slip and that the cruise control is sensing a change of speed which is make the cc disengage. They want £1100 for a new clutch. The car drives perrfectly well, gear changes are smooth, i can't feel any problem with the clutch. Just wondering if you ever rectified your cc issue and what it turned out to be?
