Ford Kuga dial cluster led has gone grey and does not work

Car: Ford Kuga
Variant: 2L Titanium X
Model Year: 2015
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights
The LED at the top of the dial cluster went off (completely grey in colour), it came back on for a short time and now has gone off again. Everything else works but there is no display. Ford have quoted £800 for a new cluster. I don't think so. Any suggestions?
