Ford KA passenger door lock not opening

Car: Ford KA
Variant: 1.3 collection
Model Year: 2001
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
The passenger door lock will not open from the out side. It will only open from the inside.
I have exposed the door lock inside the door but can not see any connection from the door handle to the door lock.

Consulting the hynes manual it talks about stripping out the window and its fixings. I would like to know what the problem is before starting on the window mechanisum.

regards Jim

I'm almost sure on that car there is a small spring on lock assembly that breaks , causing this .

I think "whittingehame" is spot on about the spring as my old fiesta(on which the ka was based) was exactly the same. All i had to do was remove the door panel and the lock itself which was held on by 3 screws. You shouldnt have to interfere with the window mechanism
