Ford KA loosing power, cutting out and black smoke from exhuast

It keeps cutting out, losing power and now has blacks smoke coming from exhaust, one mechanic said it could need an oil change as there is too much oil in it, any ideas please

If there is far too much oil in engine you will have to drain some off as it causes problems i.e building up crankcase pressure , blowing out blue smoke at rear etc. etc.
