Ford KA miss firing first thing in morning

Car: Ford KA
Model Year: 2003
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
The KA only miss fires when it is started and used for the first time in the day, it does not matter how long the journey is, it just miss' when you try to rev the engine under load. The really strange thing is that if you start it again later the same day the missing has generally disappeared!! Any ideas I have changed the plugs and leads, and a local mechanic charged me £100 to look at but still didn't manage to sort it out..

You don't say what engine / model Ka ? Could be coolant temperature sensor which basically tells ECU how much fuel engine needs .I.e when cold more fuel needed and then leans out as engine reaches operating temp .

Yes , this is simple job that you could do . Just remembered this from an earlier post re similar problem.

Your car is a 2003 , but might apply i.e if older stock registered early in that year .

Ford Ka 2002 1.3 Duratec

Problem: Engine fan running continuously, rough engine running, misfiring and / or difficulty to start.

Solution: This year Ka can suffer from water ingress to the PCM. Check the PCM connector pins for corrosion. Also check the wiring harness for the PCM in the engine bay is sealed correctly. Extra sealant has been used for the wiring harness since 12/2002.

Hope this helps .
