Ford KA problem code

Car: Ford KA
Model Year: 1998
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
I connect the car to a computer and got the following codes come up can some one tell me if I need to change the oxygen sensor or if it is some thing else.

Currant DTC

[P0171* System too lean, bank 1]
Intake/exhaust leak, air system, MAF/VAF sensor, fuel pressure, pump injectors, H02S

[P1131 Heated oxygen sensor H02S- not switching fuel trim (FT) weak mixture]
Intake/fuel system, injectors, H02S, MAF sensor, ECT sensor

I clicked on another page and it came up with this.

Heated oxygen sensor (H02S)
Check signal 1 & 2 0.1-0.9v (fluctuating)

Meaning check the plug out put on the oxygen sensor.

I have cleaned out the MASS sensor in the air box and renewed the idle control valve and it still wants to cut out when slowing down to a junction so do I change the sensor or is it something else its doing my head in.

Thanks

Jason

Have you checked for an air leak either at exhaust or inlet manifold,If you have access to a smoke tester you can easilly check it with this.If not you could spray around the engine intake manifold with w.d. 40 and listen for a change in engine note if it draws it in Obviously care is req, when doing this.If you rule out air leaks/exhaust leaks. Then really what is comming out the exhaust is it very rich ? Is the engine getting enough air i.e. choked filter,Fault codes are generally acurate but the ecu can only log what its seeing

I am assuming that the engine in my 96 fiesta is the same as your ka. I had the same problem as you have and i replaced the MAF and the idle control valve but the problem wasnt solved until i had the o2 sensor replaced. Hope this helps

If the car is running lean as the codes state it must be getting too much air . Check all vacuum hoses and pipes for leaks .
