Ford Galaxy coolant leak/ overheating

Car: Ford Galaxy
Variant: 1.9 diesel
Model Year: 1999
Categories: Leaks & Noises
My coolant has started leaking but seems to stop just below the min level. when I top it up it quickly returns to the same level. The car is now overheating and the heater blowers won't work (is this connected?). When I topped up the coolant I noticed a large wet patch on the floor underneath next to the nearside wheel and where the coolant tank is situated.

Initially thought it might be the radiator but this seems to idicate otherwise... any ideas? I know v little about cars

thanks a lot

If you cant see where the leak is , a pressure test on cooling system should show fault . Could be something simple , but best to get it sorted before it causes further damage to engine i,e head gasket etc .etc .Could check all fuses in case this may be fan fault and also see if header tank is pressurising or leaking .

Hi there,

I've been getting the same problem with the car overheating under heavy load or long journeys. Yesterday I drove back through Wales and the sensor kept going from 90 to 130 really quickly alarming and then dropping again. Also noticed the heaters have stopped working. When I stopped to look I noticed the front rad fans were not on when the car was running and temperature was well over 90. Recently I've had to top up the water every few weeks so not sure if there is a slight leak somewhere.

Did you solve this? The car is going in on Monday so any clues to give them could save me a packet in labour bills. Thanks
