Check for power supply at lamp , if nothing , could be broken wire . This from Galaxy forum explains ,

I have a 98 Galaxy and use it for work and the back door is used more than average, I have had a lot of trouble with the wiring loom going into the tail gate through the rubber cable protector and have had to repair severed cables at this point to get door lock/reversing lights/number plate lights and high level brake light to work. It's worth checking the cables at this point where they pass from car body to tail gate.
