Ford Galaxy gears

Car: Ford Galaxy
Model Year: 2000
Categories: Gearbox & Clutch
Was going perfect, stopped at roadside, went to pull off-- NO GEARS !!! Clutch good, no slip but gears won't engage. Have changed cables and adjusted till sick, adjusting worked initially for a few hours at a time. Was sure it was that so bought brand new cables. Still no good! Clutch not always disengaging gears but fiddling with the cables cures this temporarily. Afer a few miles back to square 1 Any ideas?

if the gear cables are adjusted correctly then thye should`nt need re-adjusting,if you need to keep adjusting the cables then there is a problem with the cables, are you able to select gears if you do it manually on the gearbox selector?are you sure the clutch is ok as the pressure plate might not be clearing properly,or could be sticking on the input shaft, check the clutch system has got sufficient fluid and that there is no air in the system,if so then bleed out.

HI
I have got a problem I was driving normaly when I stopped and tried to pull off there is no gear i.e no gear will work. the gear shifter is loose i.e. very soft and goes anywhere.
the clutch seems to be as normal as it was. besides this the tryres do not move even if no handbrake is applied. if you bush or otherwise all tyres dont not move.
a RAC guy came to me and tried to adjust cables and some other things but he said it is the gearbox which is gone could it be the problem?
if yes could anyone help me give me a tip of how to get a cheap gearbox.
plse help many thanks.
