Could have a look at this,

my ford galaxy 2.3 zetec T reg (whatever year that is) also had same symptoms, intermittantly would not start with the flashing LED in the car door. It gradually got worse over about 2 weeks, until it left me stranded on way back from holidays with a boot full of camping stuff, dog and obligatory screaming kids. lol
Any way after an arduous tow back from a "very nice man" and a poke around at the garage the problem turned out to be...... the no 30 relay costing about £10 part number on the spares box is 7203442 a 95vw 11450BA RELAY C44128 F5(WP).

If only i had found this site before the car was taken to the garage i could have saved a bill for the diagnostics.

I have had the car back a couple of days now withno re-occurences so far. I will repost if anything new happens.

and this,

Hi

just like to say that i had the same problem. intermittant (0.5 second) cut outs for about 2 weeks. Then one morning wouldnt start. After about 1 hour it started (wiggled some wires). then broke down on motorway an hour later. the car turned over ok but no spark. Noticed the drivers dooer light stayed on for 5 seconds then blinked double time. Changed the crankshaft sensor. No effect. Pulled out the No 30 relay pushed it back in and the car started first go. took it out. put it back in. wouldnt start. took it out cleaned all the pins put it back. starts first go every time. I did notice that the relay was very warm thoough so i have ordered a new one just in case.

Many many thanks to all.

Worth a check.

Hi I have a t reg ford galaxy ghia 2.3 and its not cut out whilst driving but the past 2 weeks its been turning over and not fired up! I've noticed the light on the door flashes fast n that's when I know it won't fire up but if the light goes off then it does! It's very unreliable! I have read up on it n nearly everyone that has had the same problem mentions the 30 relay! I have spent all morning on the phone to scrap yards, parts shops and hartwells! Hartwells say they are £54 to buy if its the right one!!! I'm at a loss, my car was in at a local garage n they seem to think its the ecu which would cost approx £900 to fix! I only paid £800 for the car! Lol just wondered if anyone had any suggestions please thanks in advance
