Ford Galaxy the temperature gauge sometimes drops to zero in the middle of journeys for 15 mins or so.

Car: Ford Galaxy
Variant: 1.9tdi
Model Year: 2003
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights
I'm assuming it could be a bad connection on the sender to the gauge.
Forgive my ignorance, but I'm not sure where the gauge sender is to be found. There are numerous connectors, but I was expecing to see something screwed into the side of the block eith a wire coming from the end?
Thank you for help or guidance.
