Ford Focus driver compartment overheating

Car: Ford Focus
Variant: 1.6 Zetec
Model Year: 2009
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
I recently purchased a 2009 Ford Focus 1.6 Zetec and love it but there is one issue which is spoiling things. After driving for a while the operator compartment is heating up. The heat starts on the left hand panel at my feet and transfers into the flooring, even the lateral bar that holds the dash heats up and finally the heat even transfers down the foot pedals. Some of the small brakets under the steer column get too hot even to touch. Car is under warrantly so it has been back to the service department who say nothing is wrong. Another Ford mechanic says he has seen the problem before and it was do do with a heatshield of some sort missing however the guy dealing with me says there is no such thing as the heatshield the other guy is talking about. Please help i'm melting away.....
