Ford Focus alarm

Car: Ford Focus
Variant: 1.8 Turbo Diesel
Model Year: 2002
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights
Last night whilst staying at my Inlaws house my alarm started going off every 5 minutes for no apparent reason. I eventually just disconnected the battery so we could get a night's sleep and stop their neighbours from lynching us!!! Anyone got any idea what may have caused this and how I can try to prevent it happening again? In accordance with the rules of this forum I am not asking to disable it, just reset it or work out what may be causing it to trigger by mistake. :-)

Check the bonnet sensor switch, which sits right next to the bonnet latch , this is a common source of activating alarm . You can disconnect wiring and bridge same as a temp. measure until you get new switch if this is the fault.Alarm will still work only engine compartment won't be protected.

Hope this is what is causing your problem .

you need to check all your door switches, boot switch and bonnet switch are not staying open, check everything is shutting properly, could also have a problem with your interior motion sensor
