Ford Focus rev counter

I have a 1.8i ford focus and when I’m driving at 70mph my REV counter is at 3.0. it seems like the engine is working hard for a 1.8 litre car. do you think this is normal

yes that sounds about right but all i can suggest is that do you have any friends that have the same car that you could compare readings

Around 2800 to 3000 in 5th sounds ok at 70, are you sure you don't have an exhaust problem.
