Ford Focus hesitation on acceleration

Car: Ford Focus
Variant: 2.0 Ghia
Model Year: 1999
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
when undertaking motorwaty driving and from accellerating, then taking foot of pedal, then placing back on, there is an immediate hesitation and then bite on acceleration.

Checked all teh plugs leads etc, its electronic ignition so I am lost.

Only one point is possibly teh clutch. Local garage said it was wearing and bearing starting to sound rough. Any ideas

If you are getting engine rpm rising on load but no acceleration but pulls away after releasing the accelerator pedal then i would say you have a clutch problem
