Ford Focus ford focus sport 1.6tdci. new clutch assembly has left the car with very notchy gear selection

Car: Ford Focus
Variant: Focus Sport 1.6 TDCi
Model Year: 2011
Categories: Gearbox & Clutch
Had the full clutch assembly replaced due to a slipping clutch. After this was done the gear selection has been very "notchy". I have returned it to the Garage 3 times and each time there was no improvement. They say they have changed the gearbox oil (because it was too thin?". bled the hydraulic system and finally adjusted the selector cable. None have made any difference.
The gear selection previously was very smooth.

Take it wasn't a Ford dealership who replaced the clutch ?

No, it wasn't - unfortunately, or stupidly - I went for a cheaper quote (False economy I guess) - alway's used dealership in the past but this time the price was prohibitive.

When you use independent garages , in many cases they may use parts that give them more profit as opposed to quality . I have also seen problems occur when engine is left to hang unsupported when gearbox removed and causing damage with gear linkage or cables . Not saying this happened or not with your car , not in any position to do so from here . As for gear oil too thin , usually if it's too thick you get problems . I know what you mean , but the cheaper option is not often the best in the long run .

I suspect that's what they have done - used inferior quality components. I suppose this should be a lesson learned for me.
