Ford Focus starting problem

Car: Ford Focus
Variant: 1.6 diesel Econetic Technology
Model Year: 2012
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights
The car has stop/start technology, I was at a set of traffic lights my car stopped but never started again. The RAC came out and checked the battery, it is good! leading it to be the starter motor!
However when we went to bump it off it was acting like it wanted to start but not turning over.
Could this be the pinion is stuck in the flywheel? causing it not to bump or is there anything else it could be?

Did the RAC load test battery ? what was battery voltage ? If you think starter stuck ( very rare occurence ) try hitting it a rap or two with the likes of a hammer shaft .

Are you sure it uses the starter for stop/start and not the alternator....if alternator check the belt tensioners are ok although if they are u/s the thing usually squeals like hell
