Ford Focus engine will not switch off

The key can be taken out of the ignition and the car locked but the engine continues to run. ANy thoughts ?

Sure it's the engine you're hearing and not the cooling fan running by chance ?

If it's the engine still running , possibly faulty ignition switch , but other possible causes .

Get a new battery. I had the exact problem. This fault happens when the battery voltage gets low. I tried charging but fault happened again. Fixed with a new battery.
