Ford Focus won't start / turn over

Car: Ford Focus
Variant: 1.6 LX manual
Model Year: 2002
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Hi, tried to start the car this morning. First turn of key engine turned over as normal but I turned key back to "off" position by mistake. Second turn of key nothing, did not turn over, no noise, nothing. All lights on dash board working. Tried several times but nothing at all.

Test battery , check voltage .Try jump start .

As advised jump start but you could also try a bump start.

Thanks for your reply, I'll try a jump start. I don't have the tools for checking the electrics. Although I'm pretty sure that the battery is not dead.

Battery doesn't have to be dead to prevent starting .Don't be mislead by lights on dash , means very little .

I've come across these where a non crank is due to failed coms between various modules with chips in the vehicle.
Anything with a chip that isn't communicating back to the main ECU will cause a non crank.

That's why I suggested a bump start.
They usually WILL bump with this fault.

On some models the ignition capacitor can cause this .Small capacitor is a square box about 1 inch, black in colour with two black wires going into it. Usually mounted on a bracket with one wire grounded to the body on top of engine .

Where is this situated and what's the usual cost for a new one?

Just went to jump start the car off my son's car. Turned ignition on, turned key and it started all by itself.......no jump required. Don't know what had happened but all is good now. Thanks for all your help and advice.

Clean the inside of the battery terminals and the outside of the battery posts.
