Ford Focus transmission knock when changing gear

Car: Ford Focus
Variant: 1.6 tdi duratec 6 speed manual
Model Year: 2011
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Every time i change gear there is a knock which sounds like too much backlash in the dif. or box.The dealers say they can hear the noise but don't know what it is,Ford customer service say they can't do anything until the agents raise a fualt code. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions as there is a gear whine starting at arround 50MPH.I need help.

If they can hear the knock and admit it's a fault , plus the transmission whine , insist on Ford sorting it out .Occasionally with one off problem cars , I have had to get a tech expert from the factory come up and roadtest / try to diagnose alleged fault .They can then contact factory technical direct with findings and decide what action needed to be taken .Must say this was with GM / Vauxhall .It's not your problem they cant find fault , dont let them fob you off .
