Could check exhaust for any loose mountings , brackets or front heat shields , which can cause rattles / noise .

Since our tire was slashed and we drove home on it 2 miles. we have been experiancing a lot of problems. we replaced out tire. as we can see, no problems to shocks. but. the exhaust is emiting a black smoke/substance. spots on paper when held to exhaust. whole engine shakes, exhast shakes, if we try to drive more than a few miles, we have to deal with a smoking enging, and have to keep restarting the car. when driving it, it doesnt take well to low rpms. it prefers high, causing engine to overheat. currently staying in the uk, our only car, was given to us fo free, just trying to fix it for the duration of our stay, any quick fixes? or ideas to what is actually going on. wont hold coolant, or oil well. no leaks that i can see. is she totally knackerd?
