Ford Fiesta tiptronic gear box will not allow engine to start, footbrake solid

Car: Ford Fiesta
Variant: 1.4
Model Year: 2003
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Sometimes when starting ignition the car wont go into gear and the footbrake goes solid. Clears after pumping the footbrake, turning off the ignition, putting the car in Nuetral and foot on footbrake as in normal start. Sometimes needs a 10 minute pause before starting sometimes longer.

Many possible causes with that gear box and the only way you can find out problem is to get a diagnostic scan and see what fault codes are shown . Hope this helps you .

check the gear selector cable adjustment as if not in correct position engine won`t start, also check the brake pedal sensor,it may need adjusting,
