Ford Fiesta brake light failure

Car: Ford Fiesta
Variant: 1.3 finesse
Model Year: 2002
Categories: Steering, Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres
All three brake lights have suddenly stopped working. I have no hand book, didn't get one with the car when bought. Checked fuses as per grid on back of glove conpartment and they are ok. Looked at pedal switch and this is , mechanically, ok.

Try bridging brake pedal switch and see if lights work .

Disassembled switch from mounting above the pedal. The switch is mechanically good, ie springs not jammed, contacts can be heard to connect. Bridged the contacts on the plug but nothing happened. I don't know if I am getting above myself here, but, I think the switch is break to make, ie constant power, there must be some other controling factor. The older cars, Ford and Vauxhal had adjustments on this switch, this one seems to be a fixed position and setting.

i know you have checked the fuse but sometimes the info on the fusebox lid is not always correct,i suggest check all fuses one by one sometimes on a blade fuse a break is difficult to see,if all ok check for a feed to the switch,if ok remove the connector at the switch then bride the connector check for feed on both sides of connector if ok poss fault in multi plug between switch & rear lamps, is it poss all 3 lights have blown the bulbs

Take it you had ignition on when you bridged switch ?

if you have a multi meter check for feed at the switch and go from there
