Ford Fiesta intermittent chugging

Car: Ford Fiesta
Variant: 1.4 zetec diesel
Model Year: 2004
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
my car developed a problem with chugging last year about the middle of july and persisted untill the end of august then cleared it has started again this year in the middle of july. When faulty it will chugg as if loosing and regaining power the mil light will come on and stay on for a couple of days before going out again when the problem has cleared. It will start all over again a few days later.it happens in any gear or any driving situation and i have not been able to make any sense of it at all.my only idea is that it may be temperature related as this is the warmest part of the year.

I would agree it seems temp related but it may be a coincidence. best thing to do is get it to a mechanic while the fault is active , that gives them the best chance to pin it down. no good waiting for it to fix itself. A code reader may throw up some fault codes but many of these random faults can be software related and ford dealers are the people to discuss that with as an update may be available to address your concern.
