Ford Fiesta boot will not open

Car: Ford Fiesta
Variant: 1.6i
Model Year: 2004

The boot will not open with the key( that is when manually using the key on the slot) or the switch. It clicks when pressing the button but will not open.

You will have to go into the boot from the inside , remove the boot trim and check lock , wiring , mechanism .May need new lock or possibly freed off with the likes of WD20 or similar

When using WD40 in lock , squirt in key slot and work back and forth , repeat a few times to wash out any dirt and grime , free off . When trying to open , press down on boot ( or get someone to do so at same time ) as operating switch / key . But if clicking , often the lock assembly

I used the WD40 in the lock, key wasnt turning at all. I am wondering if it uses the same key as the ignition, i think it will require a locksmith. But on the other hand I found that the solenoid actuator was not working so I have to replace that in order to gain access using the key remote. Thanks for the help

The key / lock may have been changed sometime in the past . Cant remember if that year had the one key or two . The actuator will not be releasing the lock , hence the clicking noise .
