Ford Fiesta cutting out when slowing down

Car: Ford Fiesta
Variant: 1.4 Zetec
Model Year: 2008
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Hi,
we have a Ford Fiesta 1.4 zetec 2008,
we bought this from a private seller. It keeps cutting out when slowing down and when we're about to turn right or left. It seemed to do this more often when the petrol was low.
We left it in to a garaqe and they cleaned the tank. It was great for a day or two when we got it back but then quickly reverted to cutting out. When it idles the rev counter goes up and down a lot. We've had two 'engine system fault's on the display. The garage think it might be a throttle board at £350 + labour with no guarantee that this will fix it?? Please help.

2008 was the year of change from Mk 6 to mk 7 i.e from old style to latest shape , so your car could be either .I would have thought if the fuel tank needing cleaning (very unusual for a car of that year nowadays ) it would have affected other aspects than just cutting out .I dont know what " throttle board " refers to , never heard of that .Car should be scanned and see what codes , if any are shown .Other than that , the basics like plugs / air filter should be checked .Also , if the garage thought , for whatever reason the tank needed cleaning , they should have checked / changed the fuel filter at the same time .
