Ford Fiesta white smoke on starting

Car: Ford Fiesta
Variant: LX
Model Year: 1996
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
I have recently noticed my car blows quite a lot of white smoke when I start it up but only after it has been stood say overnight or for quite a few hours. Could this be the head gasket? If so is it expensive to fix?

does it loose water? check inside the oil cap for mayo looking oil, suspect it just needs a good blow out and an oil change with 5w 30oil

if car has covered high mileage possibly the valve guide seals has gone dry alowing oil to seep past and settle on piston head hence the white smoke when you start this is worse with warm engine or pulling away from lights
