Also having this problem on 2008 tdci ford fiesta van. Have also posted my problem on another post ref 14622. My powertrain fault light shows, but when im driving along my revs cut down to the engine idle speed, and when i press the throttle, no revs come up. It's happened 3 times now, and my local garage replaced the throttle pedal and sensor, but its still got the same fault. I've taken it to ford who couldnt find any other fault on diagnostics other than EGR sensor on the exhaust, but they did say they've never seen that sensor cause the problem im having They've disconnected that sensor for now to see if it fices the problem so fingers crossed.
