Ford Fiesta flat spot and smoking above3000rpm

Car: Ford Fiesta
Variant: 1.4 tdci manual
Model Year: 2004
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
My car is sluggish below 2500 rpm then pulls like a steam train, then when above 3000 rpm it has sooty smoke and the driver behind has to put on his lights to see the road !!!!!!. Any ideas, the fuel econimy is down to 48 mpg ish and oil consumption is less than a pint a month, the car has done 124000 miles and since this problem the injectors are noisy under load. HELP. Many thanks

try an injector leak off test
1 attach pipe to each injector leak off pipe(washer pipe right size)
2 put each pipe into seporate container
3 run engine 2 mins
should be less than 25ml in each pot
if 1 or 2 leak a lot then injector needs replacing
WARNING DONT DISCONNECT MAIN BOLT ON PIPE AS FUEL PRESSURE HIGH ENOUGH TO CUT YOUR ARM OFF
30,000PSI +
this test can tell a lot about the engine but only do if pro mech otherwise use local garage.
