Car: Ford Fiesta
Variant: 1.3 saphire

your battery starts your car, once running your alternator takes over and runs your electrics, and keeps your battery topped up,if your alternator packed in while driving, then your car would run on your battery for a short while, until it was dead,it will stay dead until you charge it up,putting a new alternator on your car will not charge up your battery, its a charged up battery that turns over your car,as I said then your alternator takes over, your battery is only on your car to turn it over until it fires, hope you can under stand my attempt to explain,as Im rubbish with words ,good luck
