Ford Escort complete shutdown

hi all,hope someone can help.it all started a few days ago after putting fuel in,as i attempted to start the car,it just turned over,eventually starting,after that whilst driving along the whole car just cut out[the only way i can describr it is like flicking off a plug switch?the battery light is the only display that comes on?i tried to start it but as before it just turned over,all electrics work,windows,stereo lights et but it wouldnt start.after leaving it a while it started,now it wont start at all,just turns over?????PLEASE HELP

it could be that the fuel pump is broken, i had this problem on my dads car a mondeo. this would bassically mean that the engine is turning over but no fuel is being supplied to the engine. Not an easy part to replace for a non mechanic so your best getting it looked at.

have you checked for a spark at the plugs because these also have problems where the coil pack melts and starts to earth against the engine but you would have to remove this and look underneath the coilpack and also they are common for tdc sensors but look at the coil pack first
