Ford Escort air bag light

Car: Ford Escort
Variant: 1.6 zetec saloon manual
Model Year: 1994
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights
few months back had new sills fitted and sprayed
since then air bag light remains on
tested clock spring that reads out ok
wiring along sills had been moved for welding, possibly ecu unit as well , plus lower seat belts bolts had been removed and not tightened up again
i found earth wires were off that should have been onto inertia switch ,put them back on light still on
cant find any wires from air bag module not in place ,it has live feed to it
suspect earth wire off some where ?
oh, and the 7.5 fuse had blown for air bag and was on very dim
new fuse put light back to normal but now stays on
does it possibly need a reset ?
it is manual belt pretensioners on seats so no wires there
help please.r.r.

I would read and erase codes and take it from there .

im a bit concerned that this has all happend since the new sills were fitted...
welding cars can be a dodgy business for ecu's
a surge protector should have been used
im thinking that welding has scrambled the airbag control module hopefully a reset should work for ya
good luck mate
