Ford C-MAX intermittent problem

Car: Ford C-MAX
Variant: 2.0 TDCi
Model Year: 2006
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Hi - just wondered if anyone could shed some light on an intermittent problem I seem to have with My 2006 Ford Focus C-Max 2.0TDCI.

The problem occurs when I start my vehicle from cold and then drive off. If I stopped within a few miles to say, fill up will Diesel - I would return to my car and although it would start up and tick over, I could not rev the vehicle, the turbo would not kicking at all... what I have to do, is to let the engine tick over for around a minute, with an amount of right boot on the accelerator and the turbo would kick in and we are back driving again.

The problem doesn’t happen every time but only now and then - it’s a mystery as to why this is happening... just wondered if the good folk on here can shed some light on the problem.

Hi Ray, I would go and get it checked on the diagnosic kit first, at least it might bring up a fault code, so you no where to start.

Thanks chaps - took it to my local Ford dealer and they put it on the tester ... it appears I have a sticky EGR valve --- good call Wiggy :-)

To replace it, for supply and fit £450 ... problem is intemittent, so i will leave it and see how things go...

Many thanks for the replies
