Ford C-MAX cam belt coming out if its casing

Car: Ford C-MAX
Variant: 1.8 diesel
Model Year: 2004
Categories: Leaks & Noises
Hi .forgot to post problem on prev post , hence blank posting .... anyway Took 04 c-max to garage... making a rattling noise from engine for a few weeks and fumes smell coming in when heating put on. mech took a listen and a look and immediatly ran back to turn engine off. he said cam belt was coming through its casing. its been so hot that its melted the casing and had a knock on effect to the water pump which needs replacing - quote £400 thereabouts in all to replace- then advised one of the injectors was at fault hence the fumes smell - £50 injector kit- £70 all in to fix. Just wanted to know if the cam belt fault was a known one to c-max ... oh yes..... to top it off theres a hole on the turbo pipe..... he recons about 1500 to sort out turbo( replace ) he mentioned to cut losses and prob look for another car ... we were looking to trade im for 7 seater anyway soon but this means sooner than expected. .... not happy !!!

i would imagine the water pump was the cause of the cambelt coming through the casing.the injector seal price may be more depending on whether the injector will come out . as for hole in turbo pipe,if its just one of the air pipes i cant see why £1500 has been quoted unless the bearing has gone on the turbo and its excessive oil that has weakened the air pipe.

If it's only a small hole in the turbo pipe then a dab of gun gum and a steel jubilee clip can save some serious cash especially at MOT time. the belt tensioner bearing can also cause a belt to run off track as can a damaged belt itself. anything to cause the belt to be tighter on one side than the other will cause creep toward the tighter side. I agree the water pump is most likely and often will often have brown stains and water loss from the rad but not always the case. slop in the bearings will show up either way.
