Fiat Stilo knocking sound on slow down

Car: Fiat Stilo
Variant: 1,6 16V dynamic multiwagen petrol
Model Year: 2003
Categories: Steering, Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres
I drive a stilo mutliwagen 1.6 petrol, this porblem has only happened twice, once on arriving at home and then taken a test drive with my partner just to confirm the sound. when slowing down there is a knocking and a catching sound from the nearside front. We have taken the wheel off to check if there is anything loose on the brake pads but nothing was found (snug as a bug). thus turning the disc to see if there is still 'catching' at the is. Could this be the gearbox or the CV joint?

are the pads fitted nice and secure,as you can get a knocking noise on braking if the pads move in the caliper carrier, remove pads and put copper grease on back of pads
