I have had a new cylinder head gasket fitted ,along with one and two other items , ie power steering etc , only drove car three miles from garage , completely died on me . I explained to garage , they said that i need to put in a code 1600 ? as it would not start , as the battery was disconnected . I cannot drive to a fiat dealership as i haven't got the master key , i thuoght the garage would have helped me more I had to get my breakdown recovery to help me home .

Re: U1600 & P1688 error codes

U1600
Key not recognised
I'm guessing the car battery went flat for a while? It seems that's often when the car "forgets" what its been programmed as to which key fobs id to accept and has to be told again which spare fobs id are ok. This can be done at dealers but you'll need to take log book and proof of your id as well as all keyfobs. Dealer will need to find out car code which some charge for obtaining
Or I believe you can use FiatEcuSCan to code other keys in to the car and finding out the code for yourself is already being discussed here
