Fiat Punto car over heated and radiator keeps needing a top up

Car: Fiat Punto
Variant: 1.2 s60
Model Year: 1998
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights
driving my car for about 5 minutes the temperature light came on so when i checked the radiator it needed to be topped up. The car now seems to heat up pretty fast and i have to keep topping the radiator up every other journey.
The warning light hasnt been on since but i've been driving with the blower going because i heard this helps with keeping the engine cooler.
Any help is very much appreciated.

your raditor might be leaking have you checked to see if there is water coming frm under your car ?

common fault with punto's is the head gasket, usally around the 50000 mark. Simple job to do and you can expect to pay around 225-250. Also have the radiator cooling fan checked as tthis is also a commonb failure point on these cars.

from what i can see there isnt a leak any where.

If the head gasket has gone wouldnt the car feel rough and lose some power?
Could it just be the thermostat is stuck?

if you can't see a leak anywhere then the water has to be going in to the engine. Try taking out the plugs and checking them to see if there all the same colour.

One might appear cleaner than the others, if so good chance the gasket has gone.If it turns out to be the head its worth replacing the water pump and stat at the same time.

hi
common problem is the head gasket if your topping up your water on a regular basis .
your not experiencing loss of power or poor performance then it is likely that your water is being lost though your exhaust

check water in oil or vice verca
and are you getting heat through your heaters when the car is at a stand still ? if not then defiantly the head gasket
