When slowing down into 2nd gear to take a left turn I'm getting a knocking from the drivers front wheel ( sounds like a trainer in a washing machine ) had the anti roll link replaced and still making the noise

Hi Johnnyg.

I had possibly the same problem recently (among other more expensive and scary problems!) with my 2009 Fiat Grande Punto. I'd had both roll (stabilizer) links done but could hear a knocking noise usually when I was just pulling away, driving very slowly & turning the steering wheel.
Apparently, it was the 'strut tops' (I gather these are to do with the bearings?). They just needed to be stripped down & greased.
Thankfully, this seems to have resolved this particular problem. Hope this may be of help to you if you've not already sorted it out.

I now have other problems with mine & it's back in the garage for a week again for the 2nd time since Christmas. By the time it's done this time it'll have cost me about £1100 alone since the New Year! And this is a car I've had from new (no other owners), I'm a careful lady driver & it has below average mileage! Talk about 'heat or eat', it's getting to be 'fix your car or eat' but you can't do both!

Anyway, having found myself in the most terrible financial situation I would really like to help anyone if I can not have the problems I've had, so hope this helps a little :-)
